Office Gifts – Think Outside the Box

spa gift basket Finding the perfect gift for a coworker doesn’t have to be so hard. True, you probably spend close to forty hours a week working with them, but this doesn’t necessarily always mean that you know what to get them as a present. However, a little advance planning can make a huge difference!

By starting early, you are already on the right track. Make sure you don’t put yourself in the situation or position of having to make purchases out of desperation. If you do, you’ll end up spending much more money than you need to. Buying products in large quantities is a terrific way to save money, time, and effort. This is a good way to have many nice gifts for all your coworkers and maybe even some friends.

A gift basket makes a flexible gift. The gift basket is one of the most personable of all gifts, especially if you take the time to personalize it yourself. You can do this in various different ways – you can make the basket unique to you or create it specially and specifically for them.

Of course, it can be difficult to buy in bulk a personalized gift for a bunch of diverse people with varying interests. You can however make the basket unique to you and put together a perfect corporate gift for all your coworkers. Create a “theme” for the basket - something that they will look at, use, enjoy, and at the same time remember you. It will be fine if everyone has the same basket because they will all be talking about the great “themed” basket they got from you for weeks!

Personalizing items is a nice way to add that unique personal touch. You can find stores that will personalize virtually anything. This way you can buy your perfect gifts for your coworkers - anything from paper weights to picture frames. Have them engraved with a funny inside office joke, a special quote that you would like to share, or even just your coworkers’ names. Great gift ideas for your coworkers are not such a difficult task - just start early and think outside the box.

Dressing for Success? Casual Fridays

business men and womenOver the past decade there has been a shift in what is acceptable corporate dress. Just as so many things have seemed to become more casual so has dressing for work. In fact, casual Fridays are so acceptable that many companies have begun to embrace the idea. You can even find a more casual corporate look the rest of the week in many places.

Many places that have, in the past, had the reputation of being staid, traditional, and businesslike (banks come to mind) are now friendlier, more casual, and less businesslike in their push to be friendlier and more approachable. There is just something odd about discussing your long term financial plans with a twenty-something dressed in jeans and a polo shirt!

Make It Stop

How many car warranties do they think I need? If I bought an extended warranty every time my office phone rings and the booming voice tells me my car warranty has run out (how does he know, anyway?), I’d have many more years left on my warranty than on my vehicle. I guess that’s the point. That and they want my money (continue reading…)

Purge Your Way to a More Efficient Work Environment

organize

An organized business is a more efficient business, right?

Now, tell the truth. When was the last time you set aside a day, or even a part of a day, to really purge your office files and clean out drawers and closets? It is amazing how much stuff we accumulate and how much of that stuff is kept unnecessarily. In order to maximize results, you need to have a plan in place before you begin. (continue reading…)
