Businesses that like to use promotional items and gifts spend a lot of time brainstorming to identify the best item for their marketing campaigns. It is a challenging task to identify the best ones because there are so many options available.
Select an item that can be connected to or reflect your product or service in some way. This may not be always possible. However, if you find such a thing, then it should be on the top of your list.
Your promotional items and gifts should be something that can be used round the year. You should not select something that can be used only n during a particular period of the year or particular time of the year. Such an item will minimize your exposure level. The product that you choose should be something that will stay out of people’s drawers or cupboards. It should be seen by the users as well as everyone that sees the users. If you select such an item, you are most likely to achieve maximum benefit.
Try to avoid edible items as your promotional gifts because such items have the shortest visibility period. Do not select items that are cheap looking because they can negatively impact your brand name and reputation. The quality of the product selected will be compared with the quality of your company’s products or services, even though there is no actual direct link between the two.
Select an item that you would be happy to receive as a free gift. If you are not going to appreciate the free gift yourself then do not expect your target audience to appreciate it!
Do not choose items that are too personal; you should always try to project a professional image. Pick colors that will remind people of your logo, products or services. Each brand has its own official colors, and by choosing those brand colors in promotions can be beneficial. You will certainly be able to find promotional items that will fit well within your budget. You just need to put a little thought into it. It is always good to go through a gallery of products - this will give you some sense of direction in your selection process.

I had to laugh with some of the tips that you have here, like the edible items, so many people go this route, and don’t relies that going this route how ever nice of them to give out a sweet or chocolate that these gifts are gone in a second, and never to be thought of again. I think in most cases the best gifts to give out, are ones that last, like pens but they really have to be of a good quality, I know personally that I have a thing for a great pen and if I go to a show and I spot a good one I’m there, have a company logo on a pen with a telephone no. people will always use the pen and be reminded of where they got it from. Can’t go wrong!!!!!!
