Many businesses are feeling the pressure of a difficult economy and cutting costs in as many areas as possible. Even if you found that there was no budget for customer appreciation gifts it is important consider sending holiday cards. Sending cards to your customers lets them know that you appreciate their past loyalty and look forward to serving them in the future.
Even with less than a week until Christmas there is still time to get cards in the mail. Waiting until the last minute has its own reward; more than likely the cards will be on sale.
Do choose a card with universal appeal unless your business caters to a certain religion, such as a religious book store, or a company that supplies choir robes. Universal symbols include:snowmen, snowflakes, country scenes, birds, etc. The greeting should also be a simple, “Season’s Greetings” or “Happy Holidays”.
Plan on writing a short, personal note in each card to let your customer know that you appreciate their past business and look forward to serving them in the future. If appropriate you can also include a coupon for 10-25% off your services or a gift certificate. The holiday season is your last chance to make purchases, and give gifts that will be used as deductions on your taxes. Hold onto your reciepts
Each envelope should be hand written for a personal touch.
Whether or not you give gifts, sending holiday cards is smart for future business. Many customers aren’t expecting the ultimate holiday gift, they just want to know that they matter.
